1. General & UI Tips

💡 #1 — Use the blueprint save system early

Save any ship design you're happy with as a blueprint before modifying it. You WILL want to revert after a bad refit. Blueprint slots are unlimited — use them.

#2 — Middle-mouse drag to free-look: Hold middle mouse button to look around your ship without changing flight direction. Essential for spotting ore deposits and enemy blips while maintaining heading.

#3 — Double-tap R for quick alignment: This auto-levels your ship to the local horizon plane. Useful after chaotic combat or mining maneuvers.

#4 — F5 quicksaves, F9 quickloads: Use them liberally before risky operations. The game auto-saves periodically, but your own quicksave is the safety net.

#5 — Zoom the camera with scroll wheel: You can zoom way out in third-person mode to see your entire ship and surroundings. Best view for docking and combat awareness.

#23 — Radiators must face open space: Radiator panels need line-of-sight to the void. Burying them behind armor or other modules makes them 90% less effective.

#24 — Thermal paste doubles radiator efficiency (unlocked mid-tech tree): Apply it between heat-generating modules and radiators for a massive cooling boost.

#25 — Turn off non-essential modules when hiding: If aliens are patrolling nearby, shut down mining lasers, refineries, and non-critical systems. Your heat signature could drop by 60%.

#26 — Heat rises faster in combat than you think: Weapons generate 3-5× their listed heat during sustained fire. The "Thermal Output" stat is per-second — multiply by fire duration.

5. Combat & Defense

#27 — Kill scouts before they call reinforcements: Small alien scouts emit a signal when they spot you. Destroy them within 15 seconds or they'll summon a patrol fleet.

#28 — Shield facing matters: Shields are directional. Rotate your ship to present fresh shield faces when one side gets low. Don't just tank everything on the front shield.

#29 — Disable, then destroy: Target enemy weapons and engines first. A disabled ship is a dead ship — it can't dodge or shoot back.

#30 — Don't fight near your station: Combat draws more enemies. If you fight next to your base, you're putting your entire infrastructure at risk. Intercept threats at least 5km out.

#31 — Heat-seeking missiles are best against fast targets: Small alien drones dodge projectile weapons easily. Missiles with thermal tracking almost always hit.

7. Automation & Logistics

#41 — Set cargo limits on haulers: Don't let haulers wait for a full load if the route is long. Set a 70% capacity trigger so they depart more frequently.

8. Survival Mode Specific

#42 — Stealth is survival: In Survival mode, aliens are more aggressive and resources are scarcer. Keep heat signature below 30% of max at all times unless actively mining.

#43 — Never mine in one place for more than 5 minutes: Aliens track active mining signatures. Move to a new asteroid after 3-5 minutes of drilling.

#45 — Asteroids have a "richness" hidden stat: Two asteroids that look identical may yield wildly different amounts. Rich deposits have subtle visual cracks and a denser scanner signal.

#46 — NPC traders appear near Reclamation 9: If you loiter near the Reclamation 9 station for a few minutes, NPC trade ships arrive. You can buy rare modules from them that aren't in the tech tree.

#47 — Derelict stations contain free modules: Explore abandoned structures. Many contain functional modules you can salvage — free technology without research cost.

#48 — You can push asteroids with your ship: Low on fuel? Ram an asteroid to nudge it toward your station. Slow but zero fuel cost.

#49 — Solar panels work better closer to stars: Solar panel output scales with proximity to the system's star. Build solar-powered outposts in the inner system for 2-3× more power.

#50 — Night vision mode exists: Press N to toggle night vision. Extremely useful in dark asteroid fields or shadowed areas where visual mining is difficult.
